Introduction
Rhodes island is a part of the Dodecanese island and it is among the top tourist destination in Greece. Stegna Kozos Taverna
You should make sure you do not miss this tavern when you are in Stegna. You are going to enjoy a local menu which will make your palate tingle for wanting more. You can try out their dacos salad with sweet chili sauce and olive paste which you will surely love or you can try the seafood pasta. Stegna Kozos is a family run taverna and it opened in 1932, it can also be found close to the beach. The taverna has a relaxed and laid back atmosphere and it is a local hotspot on Sunday.
Haraki
Haraki is located further south towards Lindos and you will see a signpost of a roundabout which indicates that area. The port town may seem like there is nothing much to do once you get there. You will then have to get out of the car and walk between the houses before you then find a magnificent crescent-shaped bay with clear blue waters. The beach is a long pebble beach and it features sunbeds that belong to the tavernas which line the walkway around the bay. They are free to use for customers and you will find numerous places where you can eat English breakfast, snacks, seafood, or traditional Greek food. The best thing is that the prices of the food are quite lower than in Rhodes town or Lindos. The beach area features a wide variety of accommodation options that will suit your style.
Fourni and Alyki Beach
You are going to find these two serene beaches on the island close to Monolithos. The beach is not completely devoid of people as you will find sunbed and a small kiosk where you can eat. To get to these beaches, head out of Monolithos towards the castle and you can then stop at a corner for Instagram-worthy pictures. You will then follow the road that leads to the parking entrance for the castle and you can then walk up the steep steps to the peak where you will get magnificent views. You will then continue past the castle before you will see a few signs that lead to Alyki Beach, it also features a small parking area with a short steep walk to the beach. You will then find Fourni beach if you go further past Alyki beach. Fourni beach is set in a small cove and it features a long stretch of pebble beach with kiosk and sunbeds.
Monolithos village
The southwestern side of the island offers a lot of hidden gems that are far away from the crowds. Although some spots are located on the tourist trail and can easily be seen, some parts are still quite peaceful and serene. Monolithos is a traditional Greek mountain village which can be found almost opposite of Lindos. The village is filled with a collection of small white houses with a church located on the hillside. The village is surrounded by forest with varieties of places that you can walk and explore during the spring. Most of the tourist miss out on this stunning attraction as they just visit the castle and leave the village.
Feraklos Castle
This castle can be seen from Haraki and you are going to find the entrance to this castle on the road of Agathi beach. The castle was constructed on a place where there was an ancient acropolis and it was also the stronghold of the Knights of St Jogh before they were ousted by the Ottomans. You are going to get magnificent views of the bay, Agathi beach, and also across to Lindos from here. If you are lucky to be here during the spring, you will be mesmerized by the magnificent wildflowers that covers the area.
